Mercedes Concept Style Coupé is all swoops, leather and evil eyes
Mercedes-Benz‘s latest showpiece, the Concept Style Coupé, has been revealed, an “almost production-standard” design exercise likely to preview the next-gen CLS. A four-door with a riot of concave and convex surface detailing, the CSC features “powerdomes” in the bonnet and a diamond-finish grille, while the wheels are the usual concept frippery and the indicator lights manage to look like evil vampire eyes. “In standby mode they shine red” Mercedes gurgles of the indicators, “when they are activated, the individual elements light up one after another in a “Mexican wave” effect.” Current concept flourish-du-jour, the panoramic glass roof, is also present and correct, as are strangely “rippled” door mirrors. Inside there’s lashings of carbon-fiber and leather, all edged in neon green pinstriping, with anthracite-coloured Alcantara rubbing supple shoulders with suede. Switchgear gets a black anodised finish, and while the seats have been recycled from the A-Class Sports model, they do get an illuminated, electroplated insert. In fact, light-up elements seem to be Mercedes’ fetish of the moment, with the vents glowing red when blowing hot, blue when cold, and matching the pinstriping when at an ambient temperature. A COMAND Online in-car entertainment system with cloud integration rounds the dash out. With all this style and leather you could forget to actually drive the CSC, though what’s under the hood might surprise you. Mercedes has used its 2.0-litre 211hp new petrol engine with a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission. No word on how, exactly, the Concept Style Coupé may translate to a production model, but Mercedes isn’t being too coy about its ambitions for the car.

2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class: First Look
Mercedes-Benz continues to put the "G" in glitz with its 2013 G-Class. The German automaker's Gelandewagen—German for cross-country vehicle—is back for 2013 and glitzier than ever. The uber-luxury tank gets a slightly restyled exterior, new engine for the AMG model and more standard features.
The G-Class originally hit the market in 1979 and its iconic, boxy shape has remained unchanged through the years. It retains that look for 2013 and is augmented by stylish LED daytime running lamps and new side mirrors. An AMG version returns to the lineup for the new model year: The G63 AMG model adds an updated double louver grille with a new bumper featuring larger air intakes. Red brake calipers and 20-inch wheels are optional.
Two engines will be available: The G550 will use last year's 388-horsepower, 5.5-liter V-8 and the G63 AMG will use a new 544-hp, twin-turbo V-8. Fuel economy figures haven't been released, but the latter engine uses stop/start functionality for added fuel savings.
Interior updates include a redesigned instrument cluster and center console, and the addition of several standard features. New this year on G-Class is the Comand multimedia system with navigation and internet access as well as mbrace, Mercedes-Benz's subscription-based telecommunications service. Other new standard features include a blind spot warning system, a parking assist system and adaptive cruise control.
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G-Class goes on sale this August. Prices haven't yet been announced, but last year's G550 started at $ 107,100, excluding an $875 destination charge.

Mercedes Announced The 2013 R231 SL’s Price
Mercedes-Benz announced the official price of the 2013 SL in Europe, that happened a few days before the launch of the car on March 31.
The car is based on the SL 350, with a different engine. A 3.5L V6 that produces 306 PS will be retailed for €93,534, while the one with the 435 HP V engine, the SL 500 will be priced at € 117,096.
The 3.5L engine V6 car is known to be a fuel-saver, the company says that it saves almost 30% more than its predecessors as it uses just 6.8 liters for every 100 kilometer drive. Aside from the improved engines, the R231′s body is mostly made of aluminum, which makes it lighter than the previous SLs. The high-tech wiper is also a dominant feature in this car.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class First Look
[[posterous-content:pid___0]]Don't look now, but Mercedes-Benz's entire SUV portfolio is undergoing a significant overhaul. The automaker rolled out a new ML last year, teased a new GLK earlier this year, and -- of all things -- has hinted at a refreshed G-Class that's yet to arrive. And now we have the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class on display at the 2012 New York auto show, marking the GL's first extensive overhaul after some six years on the market.
As it has since 2006, the GL-Class shares its architecture with the shorter M-Class, but slots into the rather sizable gap between the ML and the cost-be-damned Gelandewagen. Much like its roots and purpose, the 2013 GL's shape is also quite familiar: the new model echoes the lines of its predecessor, although we can't help but find it more muscular. Its stance is about a half-inch wider, although at 201.6 inches long and riding on a 121-inch wheelbase, the new GL's footprint is essentially unchanged.
The GL's front fascia is still a bit boxier than its ML sibling, but the 2013 model is surprisingly more curvaceous than before. The bumper fascia tucks toward the two-bar grille just beneath the headlamp assemblies, which now boast L-shaped LED parking lamp and turn signal assemblies. Aggressive trapezoidal lower air intakes, which house LED driving lamps, seem inspired by Benz's AMG line of performance-tuned road cars. The GL's roofline mirrors its predecessors, but its profile is far less slab-sided than before. Strong character lines help break up the vertical height of the door panels, while rounded rear fenders flare from the sheetmetal in dramatic fashion. Wider taillights extend into the tailgate itself and are now illuminated by LEDs.
Predictably, the GL's update means the range also receives the latest engine offerings Mercedes-Benz has to offer, along with a sizable power increase across all three variants.
The diesel-fueled GL350 BlueTec remains part of the GL lineup, and continues to use a 3.5-liter, SOHC turbo-diesel V-6. Thanks to some mild revisions, the motor now produces 240 hp at 3600 rpm and 455 lb-ft of torque from 1600-2400 rpm (the previous model cranked out 210 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque.)
The 2013 GL450 continues to use a 4.6-liter, DOHC V-8, but it's far different than before. This new engine is part of Mercedes' new family of direct-injection, twin-turbocharged V-8s, and whips up 362 hp from 5000-6000 rpm, and 406 lb-ft of torque from 1500 to 4000 rpm. For comparison's sake, the non-turbocharged unit offered only 335 hp at 6000 rpm, along with 339 lb-ft of torque.
Buyers seeking mad power can continue to jump straight to the over-the-top 2013 GL550. Like the 2013 GL450, the 550 now utilizes a twin-turbocharged direct-injection, 4.6-liter V-8, but it's far more powerful than the 5.5-liter V-8 it replaces. Output is rated at 429 hp at 5250 rpm, about 47-hp greater than the outgoing 5.5-liter V-8. Torque, however, is dramatically higher than before. The 5.5-liter produced a solid 391 lb-ft, but the 2013 GL550 offers a whopping 516 lb-ft, and delivers it between 1800 and 3500 rpm. Mercedes-Benz estimates that much power is enough to rocket the 5500-pound sled from 0-60 mph in only 5.5 seconds.
From a safety perspective, all 2013 GL-Classes are fitted with ABS and stability control, a collision warning system, and a new crosswind stabilization function incorporated into the electric power steering system. Additional features, including blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, and Mercedes' Pre-Safe Braking system -- which automatically applies the brakes when a collision is imminent -- are available at extra cost.
Standard equipment on all 2013 GL350 and GL450 models includes heated front power seats, a rear-view camera, Benz's Comand infotainment system, Bluetooth phone pairing, a power tailgate, and rain-sensing wipers. Leatherette seating is standard, though leather surfaces -- including the swanky, quilted Designo seats shown here -- are optional. A Premium 1 Package lumps in a USB audio input, XM Satellite Radio, 10-way power front seats, and ambient interior lighting, while the Premium 2 Package lumps in a Harman/Kardon surround sound system, keyless entry and ignition, and soft-close doors
What that premium is remains to be seen: finalized pricing has yet to be announced, though officials suggest MSRP for all three models won't be much higher than the current models. If so, expect the 2013 GL350 to start around $63,000, the 2013 GL450 to sticker for about $64,000, and the loaded-to-the-hilt GL550 to retail for around $87,000.
Finalized figures should be arriving soon, as should the 2013 GL itself: production at Mercedes-Benz's assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, should have new GLs arriving at dealers nationwide come September.
