Concept Car: Mercedes-Benz SILk
According to the website, Tuvie.com, the car is not only aesthetically sound, the features are also packed with great stuff. For example. The three star logo at the front is equipped with HSS speaker. It also has sensors at the four corners of the body to detect pedestrians. If this would be a real car, this can help reduce accidents on the road, aside from the power it could produce. Judging from the looks and contour of the car, it could be a lean and mean vehicle.

The First All-Electric AMG : SLS AMG E-Cell
The in-house tuning division of Mercedes-Benz is now “cooking up” a new car. Well, actually just an improvement of what’s already in their line up, only now it is going to be all-electric. The SLS AMG E-Cell will be the first of its kind in AMG’s range of vehicles.
By the middle of next year, people can start ordering it, late next year to early 2013 test drives and deliveries are scheduled. Indeed, the production of the supercar is moving fast as confirmed by Ola Kallenius Mercedes-Benz AMG’s Chairman of the Board of Management. The company has not given the exact specifications and features of the car yet, except of course, it will be run by lithium-ion battery.According to AutoBlog, they interviewed Kallenius about the plans of “electrifying” other Mercedes-Benz models, as it has been reported that the brand is planning it, and the three star brand boss said, “we must look at everything”. Well, if this push through, we can expect more environment-friendly cars on the road in the future.

Global Unveiling of ML63 AMG Sport Utility
LOS ANGELES - November 15, 2011: The next-generation Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG sport utility vehicle is making its world premiere at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, open to the public November 18-27 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Three more high-performance Mercedes-Benz cars are making their North American debut at the L.A. Show – a long-awaited roadster version of the formidable SLS AMG gullwing coupe, the race-track-designed C63 AMG Coupe Black Series and the 415-hp SLK55 AMG featuring AMG Cylinder Management. Also during the Show, the L.A.-based Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy is gearing up for its freshman class of teenage drivers at its first training center in the U.S.
ML63 AMG Sport Utility Combines Biturbo V8 with 4MATIC
On sale in the U.S. in February, the 2012 ML63 AMG (518hp, 516 lb-ft) adds V8 performance to the new-generation M-Class line launched earlier this year, combining formidable AMG power with the all-wheel-drive traction of the renowned Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC system. In addition, an optional AMG Performance Package is being offered for the first time on the M-Class.
Standard equipment on the new ML63 AMG includes a designo leather interior with a black headliner and Parktronic as well as the feature-packed Premium 1 and 2 option packages. The new ML63 AMG is available with an optional AMG Performance Package that consists of 32 more horsepower, 44 more lb-ft of torque, a higher speed limiter of 174 mph, an AMG Performance steering wheel, carbon fiber engine cover and red brake calipers.
All ML63 AMG sport utilities are fitted with special AMG body work that includes deeper under-bumper aprons at the front and rear, more sculpted rocker panels under the doors and quad exhaust pipes. Inside, AMG sports seats are complemented by a leather-covered AMG steering wheel with sporty flattened bottom.
Joining the popular ML350 (302 hp, 273 lb.-ft.) and the thrifty ML350 BlueTEC diesel (240 horsepower, 455 lb.-ft. of torque), the ML63 AMG is powered by a direct-injection, biturbo V8 that produces 518 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. Another V8-powered M-Class model, the ML550 (402 hp, 443 lb.-ft.), will also be available in early 2012.
C63 AMG Coupe Black Series
Among the exciting new cars making their North American debut at the L.A. Show, a Black Series version of the C63 AMG Coupe features a number of impressive refinements designed to make it the most powerful C-Class of all time. Thanks in large part to forged pistons, a modified engine control unit and lighter crankshaft and connected rods, its V8 now produces 510 horsepower, up from 451. Zero-to-60 mph acceleration takes 4.2 seconds. Larger engine air ducts in the deep AMG front apron are complemented by two air outlets in the aluminum front hood.
The Black Series suspension and brakes go well beyond the AMG components in the normal 2012 C63 AMG Coupe. For example, front wheel track has been increased, and the rear fenders are nearly two inches wider on each side to accommodate wider track as well as larger, staggered-width wheels and tires.
At the rear, a body-color rear lip spoiler sits at the edge of the trunk lid, and below the bumper is a new rear apron that incorporates an eye-catching rear air diffuser with a black grille at the top and two sets of twin exhaust pipes at the bottom. A subtle “Black Series” logo on the trunk lid identifies the limited-production coupe.
SLS AMG Roadster
Also making its North American debut in L.A. is the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster. With a retractable fabric top and conventionally hinged doors, the new convertible joins the highly successful SLS AMG gullwing coupe, the first-ever car designed and developed from the ground up by Mercedes-AMG, the company’s high-performance division.
The folding soft top on the new SLS AMG can be opened in only 11 seconds, even when the car is moving at speeds up to 31 mph, and a rear window of single-layer safety glass is seamlessly bonded into the top. With the roof closed or open, the roadster’s trunk capacity is virtually the same as the gullwing coupe.
The SLS AMG can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 3.7 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 197 mph. With 563 hp and 479 pound-feet of torque, the 6.3-liter V8 engine is one of the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated V8s in production. Among its many special features, dry-sump engine lubrication (rare in the auto industry) along with a front-mid engine located well behind the front wheels, coupled with a rear-mounted transaxle, all contribute to impressive vehicle handling.
All-New SLK55 AMG
The all-new SLK55 AMG is the first AMG model in a sports car line introduced earlier this year, and it’s also the first V8-powered car in the new SLK lineup. With a wide front grille inspired by the SLS AMG, a sweeping hood, relatively long doors and a short rear section, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK line represents the third generation of a sports car that rocked the automotive world when it unveiled the first automatic retractable hardtop in modern times.
AMG Cylinder Management
The 2012 SLK55 AMG is powered by a direct-injection 5.5-liter V8 that produces 415 horsepower and 398 lb.-ft. of torque for 0-60 mph acceleration of 4.5 seconds. The new V8 features an AMG Cylinder Management system that imperceptibly cuts off four cylinders during partial load, improving gas mileage considerably. Similar to a system used on 750-hp Formula 1 engines, all eight cylinders are activated smoothly whenever the driver needs more power.

Mercedes SLC (2015) - the R190 baby SLS revealed
The gestation process was slow and tricky, but we can now announce that Mercedes has at last signed off the SLC - a baby SLS supercar the AMG boys had up their sleeves for over two years.
The new Merc SLC is now due in 2015 when the SLS comes in for its final pit stop. The new, slightly smaller supercar will be available in coupe and roadster guise, and it is front-engined after an earlier brief dalliance with a mid-engined set-up.
So what powers the new Mercedes-Benz SLC?
This is one area where we were wrong. The SLC will not accommodate the expected new AMG-tuned twin-turbo V6, as CAR reported earlier, but the faithful V8 which is mated to the familiar dual-clutch transmission.
It's still early days for this programme, but the Affalterbach grapevine suggests that instead of the big-bore 5.4- or 6.3-litre V8 units, project R190 (the official codename) will in fact feature a brand-new downsized 4.0-litre V8.
How come? Because after BMW and VW/Audi, MB is also about to switch to a new engine generation with a standardised 500cc-per-cylinder displacement. As a result, there will soon only be 2.0-litre fours, 3.0-litre sixes and 4.0-litre V8s. Heaven knows how they will be badged, though, Merc labels having long since lost much bearing on the actual capacity under bonnet.
The V12 and the old-school three-cylinder will eventually be phased out, and the all-new three for Smart and the A-class will be supplied by Renault-Nissan.
What is the new Mercedes SLC (2015) made out of?
Since R190 does after a brief overlap effectively replace the SLS, we can expect a similar aluminium-intensive engineering layout, a lighter kerb weight, even better handling qualities and exceptional performance.
The SLC puts an end to the dream of a mid-engined Mercedes sports car, but at the same time it fuels speculation about a complete range of emphatically dynamic two-seaters.
Merc's supercar plan
On one side of the SLC, we may thus eventually find a lightweight V6-engined spin-off of the next SLK. On the other side, we may find a carbonfibre supercar which could take the friendly rivalry with McLaren to the next stage.
Unfortunately none of these emotional newcomers can answer such truly urgent questions facing parent firm Daimler. Such as the future of Smart, how to plug the gap between Smart and the A-/B-class, and which alternatives to BMW i and Audi E-tron Mercedes should offer.

First look at Mercedes all new CLS Sports Sedan
Andreas Kleinkauf, senior manager, Product Management E-Class, CLS, Mercedes-Benz Cars
I see my work as being the company's the ambassador for our customers. We know our customers' needs and wishes worldwide.
And this is how we can create the perfect car for them: if customers are keen on adding some new design, no decision on any project will be made without keeping that in mind.
For me, the day-to-day, continuous contact with all our global markets and customers is one of the most thrilling and exciting parts of the job.
Also, in addition to the work, I love to travel with my family to different countries, and get in touch with other cultures, and enjoy regional landscapes, traditional food and especially the people.
I'm absolutely sure that this unique sports sedan fits perfectly in China. The new CLS is a perfect combination of driving dynamics and pioneering technology, and exudes luxury and style.
Hubert Lee, head of Mercedes-Benz' Advanced Design studio in California
This first generation CLS created a new segment and became a design icon, so, the design of the second generation was the biggest challenge of my career so far.
In 2006, we decided that the second generation CLS would represent a new era of Mercedes-Benz design.
We also wanted it to be more powerful and more dynamic; we were literally re-creating a legend.
The front is athletic and innocative, and the back is powerful and elegant. And the elevated exterior mirrors on stands accentuate the profile and improve the all-round view in the vicinity of the A-pillars.
The dropping lines are my favorite design in CLS.
When drawing the lines of the CLS, my main inspiration was an elegant cat, ready to take-off. It has a very powerful and dynamic form, also conveys the self-confident appearance just like the CLS.
Nicola Ehrenberg-Uhlig, head of Concept Team II, color & trim manager, Mercedes Benz Cars
As is the case with humans, every car has a different character. You know that old saying, "Clothes make the man"? Well, so does a car. A beautiful body cannot live without a beautiful soul.
When I begin a new project, I think about how the people are dressed, who's going to buy this car, how they're living, and what's the lifestyle behind them. Then I try to create a perfectly matching outfit for the car, as well as for the driver.
The CLS lives up to ite role as a design icon in the innovative way in which the materials are used, including the fascinating interplay between the satin and high-sheen finishes of the metallic surfaces.
The CLS really finds the bridge between heritage and future.
Roland Kemmler, senior manager for development of gasoline engines, Mercedes-Benz Cars
In addition to my work, I love playing the guitar. Of course, all six strings must be perfectly tuned to get the best sound and performance. It's the same with a six cylinder engine!
For me, the engine is the "heart" of a car, so the CLS can be seen as a very healthy, intelligent sportsman.
Our new V6 engine with BlueDIRECT technology offers more power, torque, and efficiency. To achieve this, we've put our hearts and souls into developing the perfect engine.
Perhaps the best example of this is the extremely efficient direct injection technology. The fuel injector opens in less than the blink of an eye. This is the absolute peak of engineering.
Uwe Kostanzer, head of lighting systems development, Mercedes-Benz Cars
The new CLS is the first car in the world in which all the lighting systems available, with the current xenon system, are provided by LEDs.
I love the details of our LED headlamps. They are the perfect combination of functionality, safety, and emotion.
The LED High Performance headlamps provide all five lighting functions of the intelligent light system, and the LED used in the headlamps gives considerable advantages in safety and durability.
The energy efficiency of LEDs is already on a par with that of xenon lamps, and we, my team of 40 lighting-experts, expect very soon to achieve potential savings of 100 Watts over conventional systems.
And we stayed true to our principles: we only introduce innovations when there is a benefit for the customer.
Joachim Lindau, head of CLS Testing, Mercedes-Benz Cars
Creating the CLS was something special - a modern masterpiece, tested and improved over the years by more than 50 specialists.
Mercedes-Benz test drivers have used over 1,400 prototype and pre-production models over 34 million miles, an equivalent to driving around the equator 850 times.
We tested every component, all of the car's technical highlights, and improved them a little bit each time. In the end, after more than two years of intensive work, we reached all our goals. And the new CLS is set to offer car enthusiasts even greater driving enjoyment.
For me, every detail of a product must work as good as it possibly can - but there's always something to improve. Keeping Karl Benz in mind, I would say, "The love of improvements never ends".
In the future, we want to do more tests in China, for this important market.
Michael Rapp, head of steering systems development, Mercedes-Benz Cars
I love driving cars. At the steering wheel, I can directly experience the agility, sportiness, and handling ability of a car.
So, I can say with authority that we've never, ever had a better steering than that of the new CLS.
The new electro-mechanical steering system marks a radical shift in the relationship between driver, car, and road.
Furthermore, the steering makes an important contribution to the overall efficiency of the CLS, which is reflected in the fuel consumption - up to 0.3 liters per kilometer or 7 kg carbon dioxide emissions per kilometer.
The new steering system has also made it possible to introduce the automatic parking function, "Active Parking Assist".
To make a long story short, the new CLS is an elegant sedan with handling like that of a sports car.
